LOCATION.-- Lat 41°50'45", long 88°20'57", in NW1/4NW1/4SE1/4 sec.20, T.39 N., R.8 E., Kane County, Hydrologic Unit 07120007, on left bank at bridge on Deer Path road, 1 mi. west of Batavia, and at mile 2.9.

DRAINAGE AREA.-- 27.6 mi2.

GAGE.-- Water-stage recorder, phone telemeter, unheated tipping-bucket rain gage, and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 685.00 ft above sea level.

REMARKS.-- Effluent from sewage-treatment plant 5 mi upstream. Collection, computation, and publication of precipitation data do not necessarily conform to standards used by the National Weather Service. Precipitation data could be subject to error for days with freezing and/or thawing of precipitation.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--
SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 1,080 ft3/s, Apr. 23, 1999, gage height, 7.52 ft; minimum discharge, 0.40 ft3/s, Aug. 11, 2001.
PRECIPITATION: Maximum daily total, 2.79 in, September 19, 2001.

REMARKS FOR CURRENT YEAR.-- Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Effluent from sewage-treatment plant 5 mi upstream averaged 0.34 ft3/s during the year. The maximum average was 0.51 ft3/s in January and the minimum was 0.21 ft3/s in December.
